Introduction

In order to react to specific developments in the sports market and in the EU market policies, FESI has set up Working Committees on various EU subjects. These specialised groups, gathering senior companies' executives, help enhance general discussion and clarify individual problems. The Working Committees' ultimate aim is to create conclusive Position Papers that will form the basis of FESI's activities vis-à-vis European institutions.

FESI Working Committees are composed directly of both national federations and manufacturers, which regularly elect a chair and vice-chairs for political representation. FESI acts, above all, as intermediary in the organisation of these meetings, helping to sort out differences between the parties concerned so as to reach consensus on specific issues.

The compromise reached within FESI Working Committees is then circulated among all FESI Regular Members and Working Committee Members to get final consensus. The Position Paper emerging from the consensus is subsequently exposed and advocated before the European Institution representatives who are also welcomed to the Working Committees meetings to clearly outline EU motivations on the issues under discussion.

In this way, FESI Working Committees provide their member companies with an important platform for face-to-face discussion with experts from the European Institutions and allow them to have their say in the European decision-making process, always on the basis of our agreed Position Papers.
